Our Mission

To produce hand-dyed, American grown fiber that is fashionable & contemporary with functional, heirloom-quality.

About Us

Fiber Seed was established in 2012 by Lindsay English, with the desire to be creative on yarn with yarn. Today, we continue to be a trusted source for quality and consistency, hand-dyeing in our Blanchester, OH studio, using custom-made American fiber & yarns.

Read more below and find out who we are and how we became an American favorite.

Owner/Lead Dyer & Creator

Lindsay English

I'm a native Floridian - born and raised in Tampa. I'm a 2008 graduate of USF, where I received my degree in the arts. After school, I learned to knit (online). After a stint at Micheals, I began to work, and later taught, at my local yarn shop, Knit 'N Knibble in Tampa.

As a mommy to two incredibly wonderful kids, the balance of mom and business woman is not easy. Every day seems to be a challenge to the balancing act, but with Jordan, we seem to keep from getting out of balance... at least not too much. But I know, with God, all things are possible. I trust He makes things work together for us even in the hard times, and the ability to provide becomes more faith than self-reliance.

I enjoy being a Craftswoman, to make art with purpose and usefulness. I've always enjoyed working with my hands and creating something worth sharing with the world.

All of this is not only dyed with a purpose of usefulness, but to give a spark of creativity, and I hopefully brings a spark of joy to your life.

It takes a team.

The older I get, the more I realize I cannot be superwoman and do all things, I need help..and I definitely have the assistance of many reliable and talented people.

Jordan - My husband, Mr. Fiber Seed, has been my right-hand man long before I began a life full of yarn. From finances to shipping, he does all the things dyeing keeps me from.

Laura - My assistant since early 2023, she has taken everything I have thrown at her and successfully accomplished the tasks. Originally hired to do all the small things, she has taken on some of the dyeing and is a big reason I can take time to be a mom.

The kids - I really never thought the kids would be assisting me, but here we are. In the past, it was exciting for them to be incharge of filling a bucket with water, because they wanted to help. It's turned into something pretty neat as they have gotten older, where I get to assist them with Rainbow Soup.

There are others that have been a huge help making us into who we are today. From the Tuesday ladies, to family members, I cannot thank them enough for their selfless acts.

As this is more than a hobby, we have many other businesses we have partnered with and suppliers we have befriended. Their contributions cannot go unmentioned, we are thankful for their love and support to "little old us."

Our Story

From our family to yours.

Established in 2012, by Lindsay English, with the desire to be creative on yarn and with yarn.

Started in Tampa, Florida, in the former home of Lindsay's grandparents, Bill & Lois McKay. This was the 4th business operated in that home since 1948. Lindsay greatly adored her grandparents, and she learned how to run a family business. As she grew, she gleaned more information from her father; an inventor, innovator, and entrepreneur. He gave her the courage to be innovative and independent.

In 2019, we made a big move... from South Tampa to Jordan's home town in Southern Ohio, Blanchester (the only one in the world). This is where we are, our team is from here, and, most importantly, our yarn is dyed here.

From our dye studio, we hope you know that we have made something reliable, with backing and support of friends and family. This is more than just "Lindsay's Yarn", it's a community effort with generations of support.
