Reece was inspired by a bar of soap from Soap & Wool , and named after the Jack Johnson song “Only the Ocean”. (Good song - look it up.)
Jack Johnson (a former professional surfer turned singer/song writer) wrote several songs about surfing. In Only the Ocean, he describes the ocean as a freeing place 'when the world's too much'... something we can all relate to, or at least desire. "I’m finally free - it’s only ocean and me.”
Dyed by Reece, age 12, in our Rainbow Soup Collection... (Don't worry, the dyeing is done under professional supervision)
This gradient Kaleidoscope is primarily a darker teal, and fades to green into the reddish brown tip.
Dyed on our Sprout base in Worsted weight.
Single Colors we recommend: Night Zone, Bubbles, Thyme, Lake Blue, Weathered, Gulfstream

What is Sprout?
The wool is from American grown Merino Sheep flocks. Farmers/Ranchers who grow with care for their wool and health of their flock.
American Grown
The wool is combed before it's twisted. This eliminates small fibers that itch, plus it aids durability as it leaves only longer wool fibers.
Worsted... Spun?
To replace Silk, nylon was blended to wool in the 40's for added durability and shape retention. With only 10%, you won't know the it's there, but it's doing it's job.
Why Nylon?
Over-twisting makes the yarn stronger and splitting difficult. With a Balanced S-twist, it's great for knitting! (With a tight ply, crocheters need not worry about untwisting.)
